Biological Background: SPRY3 (Protein sprouty homolog 3) Function and Localization
- SPRY3 encodes Protein sprouty homolog 3, also known as Sprouty RTK signaling antagonist 3 or Sprouty3.
- It negatively regulates the MAPK cascade, resulting in reduced extracellular matrix protein accumulation. Related references: PMID:30878395
- May act as an antagonist of fibroblast growth factor (FGF) pathways and negatively modulate respiratory organogenesis. Related references: PMID:9458049
- Inhibits neurite branching, arbor length, and neurite complexity, and inhibits EGF-mediated p42/44 ERK signaling (by similarity).
- Localized predominantly in the cytoplasm.
