  • SLC3A2 (CD98 heavy chain) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as a chaperone for the biogenesis and trafficking of functional amino acid transporter heterodimers to the plasma membrane. It associates with various SLC7 family light chains (e.g., SLC7A5/LAT1, SLC7A8/LAT2, SLC7A11/xCT) to form amino acid antiporters with distinct substrate specificities.
