Biological Background: SLC30A1 Function and Localization
- SLC30A1 (Zinc transporter 1, ZnT-1) is a proton-coupled zinc antiporter that mediates zinc efflux from cells, protecting against intracellular zinc accumulation and toxicity. Related references: PMID:31471319, PMID:33996761, PMID:39422023
- It also prevents the transport of CACNB2 to the plasma membrane, thereby modulating L-type calcium channel expression and inhibiting calcium and heavy metal influx (By similarity).
