- SIRT5 is a mitochondrial NAD-dependent protein deacylase that primarily functions as a lysine demalonylase, desuccinylase, and deglutarylase, specifically removing malonyl, succinyl, and glutaryl groups from target proteins (PubMed:21908771, PubMed:22076378, PubMed:24703693).
