Biological Background: SGPL1 Function and Localization

• SGPL1 (sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase 1) is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent lyase that irreversibly cleaves sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) into fatty aldehydes and phosphoethanolamine, and elevates stress-induced ceramide production and apoptosis.
