  • Plays a critical role in cortical development by initiating upper-layer neuron specification and repressing deep-layer neuron genes such as Ctip2 (BCL11B).
  • Involved in palate formation and skeletal development, serving as a molecular node in transcriptional networks that regulate osteoblast differentiation.
  • Localizes to the nucleus matrix, consistent with its function in chromatin organization and nuclear architecture.
  • Exhibits tissue-specific expression, with high levels in adult brain regions (amygdala, corpus callosum, caudate nucleus, hippocampus), moderate in fetal brain, and low in liver, kidney, and spinal cord.
