  • Protein S100-A1 (S100 calcium-binding protein A1, also known as S-100 protein alpha chain or S100A) is a member of the S100 family of EF-hand calcium-binding proteins.
  • Functions as a small calcium-binding protein that plays critical roles in Ca²⁺ homeostasis, chondrocyte biology, and cardiomyocyte regulation by binding calcium and triggering conformational changes that enable interactions with specific target proteins.
