Biological Background: RPA2 Function and Localization

• RPA2, also known as replication protein A 32 kDa subunit (RP-A p32) or RP-A p34, is a component of the heterotrimeric replication protein A (RPA) complex, which includes RPA1 (70 kDa), RPA2 (32 kDa), and RPA3 (14 kDa).
• The RPA complex binds and stabilizes single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) intermediates that arise during DNA replication, repair, and recombination, preventing their reannealing and facilitating the recruitment of key metabolic proteins.
