• RIN2, also known as Ras and Rab interactor 2, is a member of the Ras association domain family (RASSF4).
• It functions as a Ras effector protein and may act as both an upstream activator and downstream effector for RAB5B in the endocytic pathway.
• RIN2 is suggested to serve as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for RAB5B, catalyzing the exchange of GDP for GTP to activate RAB5 proteins.
• Subcellularly, RIN2 localizes to the cytoplasm.
