Biological Background: RBP4 Function and Localization

• RBP4 (Retinol-binding protein 4), also known as plasma retinol-binding protein (PRBP, RBP), is a secreted protein with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 23 kDa (UniProt: 23010 Da).
• It mediates retinol (vitamin A) transport in blood plasma, delivering retinol from liver stores to peripheral tissues.
