Biological Background: PRP19 Function and Localization

• PRP19 (Pre-mRNA-processing factor 19), also known as Nuclear matrix protein 200, is a ubiquitin-protein ligase and core component of the spliceosome and DNA repair complexes.
• It is a RING-type E3 ubiquitin transferase that catalyzes Lys-63-linked polyubiquitination of spliceosomal protein PRPF3 to stabilize the U4/U5/U6 tri-snRNP complex. Related references: PMID:20595234
