Biological Background: PRMT5 Function and Localization
- PRMT5 is a type II arginine methyltransferase that catalyzes the symmetrical dimethylation of arginine residues, with a preference for forming monomethylarginine (MMA) over symmetric dimethylarginine (sDMA) (PubMed:10531356, PubMed:11152681, PubMed:11747828).
