Biological Background: PIAS1 Function and Localization

• PIAS1 (Protein Inhibitor of Activated STAT1) is also known as GBP, ZMIZ3, DDXBP1, and GU/RH-II, encoding an E3 SUMO-protein ligase and transcriptional coregulator.
• PIAS1 functions as an E3 SUMO ligase and transcriptional coregulator.
