• Phospholamban (PLN) is a small transmembrane protein that reversibly inhibits the cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca²⁺-ATPase (SERCA2/ATP2A2) by decreasing its apparent Ca²⁺ affinity, thereby modulating cardiac contractility and relaxation.
