Biological Background: TrkA/TrkB Function and Localization

• NTRK1 encodes the high affinity nerve growth factor receptor, also known as TrkA, gp140trk, and p140-TrkA.
• TrkA is a receptor tyrosine kinase that binds neurotrophins, playing a critical role in neuronal survival, differentiation, and growth.
• The antibody specifically recognizes phosphorylation at tyrosine residues Y674 and Y675 of TrkA (isoform TrkA-I, P04629-2) and the analogous phosphorylation sites Y706 and Y707 of TrkB (Q16620).
• TrkA exists as multiple isoforms; isoform TrkA-I (used as immunogen reference) has a molecular weight of approximately 87 kDa, while the observed protein weight of the antibody includes additional bands due to glycosylation and potential cleavage products (35 kDa, 53-60 kDa, 77 kDa, 83-93 kDa).
