Biological Background: Hormone-sensitive lipase Function and Localization
- Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL), encoded by the LIPE gene, is a multifunctional enzyme with broad substrate specificity, catalyzing the hydrolysis of triacylglycerols (TAGs), diacylglycerols (DAGs), monoacylglycerols (MAGs), cholesteryl esters, and retinyl esters.
