  • Myc proto-oncogene protein, also known as c-Myc, is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLHZip) family of transcription factors. It is encoded by the MYC gene (Gene ID: 4609) and plays a central role in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation.

  • For Western blotting, the predicted molecular weight is 51 kDa, but you may observe bands at higher apparent molecular weights (57–65 kDa) due to post-translational modifications; always run a molecular weight marker.
  • Confirm antibody specificity by treating samples with lambda protein phosphatase or by peptide competition with the non-phosphorylated immunogen if available.
  • For immunohistochemistry (IHC-P), optimize antigen retrieval conditions and primary antibody dilution; a suggested starting dilution for immunohistochemistry is 1:50–1:200, but this must be validated in your own system.
