Biological Background: PHF19 Function and Localization
- PHD finger protein 19 (PHF19), also known as Polycomb-like protein 3 (PCL3), MTF2L1, and TDRD19B, is a ~66 kDa polycomb group (PcG) protein encoded by the PHF19 gene (GeneID: 26147).
- PHF19 specifically recognizes histone H3 trimethylated at lysine 36 (H3K36me3) and recruits the Polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), enhancing its H3K27me3 methyltransferase activity and contributing to transcriptional silencing.
