- PDCD4 (Programmed cell death protein 4), also known as H731, D4, Neoplastic transformation inhibitor protein, or Nuclear antigen H731-like, is encoded by the PDCD4 gene in humans. Its canonical isoform has a molecular weight of approximately 52 kDa (UniProt: 51.7 kDa).
- Functioning as a tumor suppressor, PDCD4 inhibits cap-dependent translation by binding to EIF4A and blocking its interaction with EIF4G, thereby suppressing the helicase activity required for translation initiation.
