• Procollagen C-endopeptidase enhancer 1 (PCPE-1), also known as PCPE or PCPE1, is a secreted glycoprotein that binds to the C-terminal propeptide of type I procollagen and enhances procollagen C-proteinase activity, playing a crucial role in collagen maturation.
• The proteolytically processed C-terminal fragment of PCPE-1 (CT-PCPE) may possess metalloproteinase inhibitory activity, potentially regulating extracellular matrix remodeling.
• PCPE-1 is a secreted protein, consistent with its extracellular function in collagen processing.
• Post-translational modifications include glycosylation, phosphorylation, and disulfide bond formation, contributing to its stability and function.

Experimental Guidance and Technical Tips

• The antibody was raised against a recombinant fusion protein encompassing amino acids 304-449 of human TLR4. Given this immunogen, we recommend verifying specificity for PCPE-1 in your experimental system through appropriate controls and validation experiments.
• For Western blotting, load 20–30 µg of protein lysate from cells or tissues known to express PCPE-1, and use a secondary anti-rabbit antibody. The predicted molecular weight of PCPE-1 is ~48 kDa, but glycosylation may cause a higher apparent mass.
• For ELISA, coat plates with recombinant PCPE-1 protein or antigens from relevant samples, and optimize antibody dilution and detection conditions.
