  • PAK1IP1 (p21-activated protein kinase-interacting protein 1), also known as PIP1, MAK11, WDR84, or hPIP1, is a WD repeat-containing protein that functions as a negative regulator of PAK1 kinase.
  • Inhibits PAK1 activation by binding its N-terminal regulatory domain, thereby preventing CDC42-induced activation and subsequent signaling through MAPK8 and RELA pathways.
  • May participate in ribosomal large subunit assembly, contributing to ribosome biogenesis. Related references: PMID:24120868
  • Localizes predominantly to the nucleolus within the nucleus, consistent with its role in ribosome production.
