Biological Background: p47phox/NCF1 Function and Localization
- p47phox (Neutrophil cytosol factor 1) is encoded by the NCF1 gene (also known as NOXO2, SH3PXD1A) and is a 47 kDa cytosolic protein; alternative splicing has been reported but not fully characterized.

- Activation involves phosphorylation-dependent binding of p47phox to the C-terminus of CYBA/p22-phox, initiating assembly of cytosolic subunits with the core membrane complex. Related references: PMID:12732142, PMID:19801500
- p47phox is primarily located in the cytoplasm and cytosol, and translocates to the membrane upon activation.
