Biological Background: OSTC Function and Localization

• OSTC (also known as DC2 or hydrophobic protein HSF-28) is a subunit of the oligosaccharyltransferase (OST) complex, specifically the STT3A-containing OST-A complex. Related references: PMID:28860277
• It catalyzes the initial transfer of a defined glycan (Glc3Man9GlcNAc2) from dolichol-pyrophosphate to asparagine residues on nascent polypeptides, the first step in protein N-glycosylation.
