OSMR serves as a shared signal-transducing subunit in two receptor complexes: the type II oncostatin M (OSM) receptor (heterodimer with IL6ST) and the interleukin-31 (IL-31) receptor (heterodimer with IL31RA), binding their respective ligands OSM and IL-31.

OSM/IL6ST/OSMR signaling regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and cytokine production, whereas IL-31/OSMR/IL31RA signaling is particularly critical for skin immunity.

- The immunogen comprises amino acids 100–200 of human OSMR, located in the extracellular domain. This recombinant fragment may be suitable for detecting both membrane-bound and soluble receptor forms in Western blot and ELISA applications.
- For Western blot, the expected band is approximately 111 kDa (UniProt: 110.5 kDa). It is advisable to use positive controls such as OSMR-expressing cell lines (e.g., keratinocytes) and to optimize primary antibody dilution empirically.
- The antibody cross-reacts with mouse OSMR, enabling its use in murine model studies. Always verify reactivity and specificity in the specific tissue or cell type under investigation.
- As a polyclonal antibody, inter-lot consistency should be monitored; consider using blocking peptides or genetic knockout controls to confirm band identity in critical assays.
- For ELISA, titration of both coating antigen and detection antibody is recommended; starting concentrations in the range of 0.1–1 µg/mL may serve as a useful guideline.
