- It plays an essential role in nuclear pore complex assembly, fusion, and spacing, maintaining structural integrity of the nuclear envelope.
- The protein localizes to the nuclear membrane, nuclear pore complex, and endoplasmic reticulum membrane.
- Ubiquitously expressed, with highest levels in lung, liver, pancreas, testis, and ovary, and lower levels in brain, kidney, spleen, heart, and skeletal muscle.
- Post-translational modifications include glycosylation and phosphorylation, and it is predicted to contain a signal peptide and transmembrane helices.
- It is involved in mRNA and protein transport across the nuclear envelope, serving as a critical component of the nucleocytoplasmic transport machinery.
