  • It methylates specific cytosine residues in tRNA precursors: positions 34 and 48 of intron-containing tRNA(Leu)(CAA) and positions 48–50 of tRNA(Gly)(GCC), a modification essential for tRNA stability and generation of tRNA-derived fragments.
