Biological Background: NMNAT3 Function and Localization
- Nicotinamide/nicotinic acid mononucleotide adenylyltransferase 3 (NMNAT3), also known as PNAT-3, is a member of the NMNAT family involved in pyridine nucleotide biosynthesis.
- Catalyzes the formation of NAD(+) from nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and ATP; can also use nicotinic acid mononucleotide (NaMN) with equal efficiency and GTP/ITP as nucleotide donors.
