  • NFAT2 (Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1), also known as NFATc, NF-ATC, or NF-ATc1.2, is encoded by the NFATC1 gene and belongs to the NFAT transcription factor family.
  • It plays a key role in the inducible expression of cytokine genes in T-cells, particularly IL-2 and IL-4, and controls T-cell activation, proliferation, differentiation, and programmed death. Related references: PMID:10358178
  • NFAT2 is required for osteoclastogenesis and regulates numerous genes critical for osteoclast differentiation and function.
