- NF-kB p65/RelA, encoded by the RELA gene, is a subunit of the NF-kB transcription factor complex that exists as homo- or heterodimers; the heterodimeric p65-NFKB1 complex is the most abundant form.
- It plays a central role in inflammation, immunity, cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis by binding to kappa-B sites in target gene promoters, acting primarily as a transcriptional activator.
