Biological Background: NF-kB p65/RelA Function and Localization
- The NF-kB p65 subunit (also known as RELA, NFKB3) is a core component of the NF-kappa-B transcription factor complex, a pleiotropic regulator present in almost all cell types.
- NF-kappa-B complexes are homo- or heterodimers formed by REL-like domain-containing proteins; the heterodimer of RELA and NFKB1 (p50) is the most abundant form and acts as a transcriptional activator.
