Biological Background: Myocardin Function and Localization

• Myocardin (MYOCD) is a smooth muscle and cardiac muscle-specific transcriptional cofactor that acts together with serum response factor (SRF) to regulate genes via CArG box DNA sequences, playing crucial roles in cardiogenesis, urinary bladder development, and smooth muscle cell differentiation (by similarity).
• It positively regulates transcription of genes involved in vascular smooth muscle contraction (by similarity).
• Subcellular localization is predominantly nuclear, consistent with its role as a transcription factor.

• This polyclonal antibody is applicable for immunohistochemistry (IHC-P) on paraffin-embedded tissues. Heart, aorta, or bladder sections from human or rat are positive controls; validate staining specificity in your own system.
