Biological Background: MRE11 Function and Localization
- MRE11 (Meiotic recombination 11 homolog 1) is a core component of the MRN complex (MRE11-RAD50-NBN), essential for DNA double-strand break repair, homologous recombination, telomere maintenance, and meiosis. Related references: PMID:11741547, PMID:14657032, PMID:22078559
- The MRN complex initiates end resection at DSBs: MRE11 endonucleolytically cleaves the 5′ strand and then performs 3′-5′ exonucleolytic degradation, creating a 3′ overhang for long-range resection by EXO1/DNA2. Related references: PMID:24316220, PMID:28867292

- For Western blot (WB), a band at ~81 kDa is expected. Use appropriate loading controls and consider the expression profile of MRE11 across human and mouse tissue or cell lines.
- For immunohistochemistry (IHC-P), antigen retrieval and antibody dilution may need optimization; nuclear and chromosomal staining is anticipated.
- For ELISA, the recombinant immunogen or native protein can be used as coating antigen; cross-reactivity with human and mouse MRE11 has been demonstrated.
- The antibody has not been tested in other applications; users should validate performance in their specific experimental system.
