Biological Background: Podoplanin Function and Localization
- Podoplanin is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein also known as Gp38, T1alpha, and OTS-8, characterized by a heavily O-glycosylated extracellular domain that mediates interactions with multiple binding partners.

- Interaction with CD9 attenuates platelet aggregation and pulmonary metastasis; through MSN or EZR, it promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), leading to RHOA activation and increased cell migration and invasiveness.
