Biological Background: CD24 Function and Localization

• CD24 (Signal transducer CD24), also known as heat stable antigen (HSA), lymphocyte antigen 52 (Ly-52), and nectadrin, is a glycoprotein encoded by the Cd24 gene in mice.
• The protein is GPI-anchored to the cell membrane and plays a role in cell differentiation, particularly in early thymocyte development.
