Biological Background: CD112/Nectin-2 Function and Localization

• Nectin-2, also known as poliovirus receptor-related protein 2 (PVRL2), herpes virus entry mediator B (HveB), and CD112, is a cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily.
• Acts as a modulator of T-cell signaling, functioning as either a costimulator or coinhibitor depending on the interacting receptor. Upon binding to CD226, it stimulates T-cell proliferation and the production of cytokines including IL-2, IL-5, IL-10, IL-13, and IFN-γ. Conversely, interaction with PVRIG inhibits T-cell proliferation.
