Biological Background: Lyn Function and Localization

• Protein identity and isoforms: Tyrosine-protein kinase Lyn, encoded by the LYN (JTK8) gene, is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase. Alternative splicing produces isoforms p53Lyn and p56Lyn.
• Core signaling function: Lyn transduces signals from cell surface receptors, acting as both a negative regulator and activator depending on context.
