• LOXL1, also known as lysyl oxidase-like protein 1 (LOL), is a secreted copper-dependent amine oxidase belonging to the lysyl oxidase family.
• It catalyzes the oxidative deamination of lysine and hydroxylysine residues in collagen and elastin, initiating the formation of covalent cross-linkages essential for extracellular matrix stability.
