Biological Background: LIPH Function and Localization
- LIPH (Lipase member H) is a secreted and membrane-associated phospholipase A1, also referred to as mPA-PLA1 alpha or PLA1B.
- It selectively hydrolyzes phosphatidic acid (PA) to generate 2-acyl lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and free fatty acid; it does not act on other phospholipids or triglycerides.
- At the protein level, it is present in the intestine, and its mRNA is broadly expressed in the colon, prostate, kidney, pancreas, ovary, testis, lung, and skin. - The protein localizes to the cell membrane and is also secreted into the extracellular space.

- For ELISA applications, consider using recombinant LIPH protein or tissue lysates known to express LIPH (e.g., intestine, skin) for plate coating or as standards.
- Positive control samples could include lysates from LIPH-rich tissues such as intestine or hair follicle cells.
