Biological Background: L3MBTL3 Function and Localization
- L3MBTL3 (Lethal(3)malignant brain tumor-like protein 3), also known as MBT-1, is encoded by the L3MBTL3 gene (KIAA1798, MBT1) in humans.
- It functions as a negative regulator of Notch target gene expression, required for RBPJ-mediated transcriptional repression. Related references: PMID:29030483
- L3MBTL3 recruits the histone demethylase KDM1A to Notch-responsive elements, promoting KDM1A-mediated H3K4me demethylation. Related references: PMID:29030483
