- KPNA2 (Importin subunit alpha-1) is a member of the karyopherin alpha family, functioning as an adapter that recognizes nuclear localization signals (NLS) on cargo proteins and mediates their import through the nuclear pore complex in complex with importin-beta (KPNB1).
