  • KMT2B (Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase 2B), also known as MLL4, TRX2, and WBP7, is a large (~294 kDa) chromatin-modifying enzyme belonging to the mixed-lineage leukemia (MLL) family of histone methyltransferases.
  • It catalyzes the transfer of methyl groups from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to lysine 4 of histone H3 (H3K4), predominantly forming monomethyl (H3K4me1) and dimethyl (H3K4me2) marks via a non-processive mechanism, thereby regulating gene transcription and DNA repair (PubMed:17707229, PubMed:25561738).
