Biological Background: KCNA4 Function and Localization
- KCNA4, also known as Kv1.4, HK1, HPCN2, and other aliases, is a voltage-gated potassium channel subunit that mediates transmembrane potassium transport in excitable membranes. Related references: PMID:19912772, PMID:8495559
- The channel forms tetrameric complexes and can exist as functional homotetrameric channels or heterotetrameric channels with other KCNA subunits such as KCNA1, KCNA2, and KCNA5, where the subunit composition influences channel properties. Related references: PMID:8495559
- Homotetrameric KCNA4 channels open in response to membrane depolarization and then undergo rapid spontaneous inactivation. Related references: PMID:19912772, PMID:8495559

- The predicted molecular weight is approximately 73 kDa. Due to potential glycosylation and other modifications, the observed band may appear slightly higher; validate with appropriate controls.
- For ELISA, direct coating with the immunogen peptide can serve as a positive antigen control. Confirm specificity through pre-adsorption experiments.
- Cross-reactivity with mouse and rat has been reported; however, validation in the target species and tissue system is recommended.
