Biological Background: IRF8 Function and Localization
- IRF8, also known as interferon consensus sequence-binding protein (ICSBP), is a member of the interferon regulatory factor (IRF) family of transcription factors.
- It specifically binds to the interferon consensus sequence (ICS) upstream of type I IFN and IFN-inducible MHC class I genes, acting as both a transcriptional activator and repressor.

- For Western blot detection of IRF8, whole cell lysates from human or mouse immune cells such as peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) or dendritic cell lines are appropriate sample types. Nuclear enrichment may improve sensitivity given IRF8’s role as a transcription factor.
- In ELISA applications, this antibody may be used for capture or detection in sandwich immunoassays. Validate pairing with a suitable monoclonal antibody or use recombinant IRF8 protein as a standard for quantification.
