  • Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2 (IGF2BP2), also known as IMP2 or VICKZ2, is a member of the VICKZ family of RNA-binding proteins that regulate mRNA fate.
  • IGF2BP2 binds to target mRNAs and recruits them into cytoplasmic mRNP complexes, facilitating mRNA transport, transient storage, and protection from endonuclease cleavage and microRNA-mediated degradation (By similarity).
  • It preferentially binds N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-modified mRNAs, enhancing their stability. This m6A-dependent stabilization is critical for key transcripts like MYC, where binding to the coding region instability determinant (CRD) is increased by m6A modification.
