Biological Background: IFNAR1 Function and Localization

  • IFNAR1 (Interferon alpha/beta receptor 1), also known as Cytokine receptor class-II member 1 (CRF2-1), forms a heterodimeric receptor with IFNAR2 for type I interferons (IFN-α, IFN-β, IFN-ε, IFN-ω, and IFN-κ). Related references: PMID:10049744, PMID:14532120, PMID:15337770

  • Upon interferon binding, IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 proximity triggers cross-phosphorylation of associated Janus kinases (TYK2 on IFNAR1, JAK1 on IFNAR2), phosphorylation of receptor tyrosine residues, recruitment and phosphorylation of STAT transcription factors, and their nuclear translocation to regulate interferon-stimulated gene expression.   • As a polyclonal antibody, it may recognize multiple epitopes, enhancing sensitivity but potentially increasing background; consider optimizing blocking and washing conditions.
