Biological Background: CD300F/IREM-1 Function and Localization

• Also known as CMRF35-like molecule 1, CD300 antigen-like family member F, IREM-1, IgSF13, NKIR, and CLM1. It belongs to the CD300 family of immunoregulatory receptors, which play diverse roles in immune cell signaling.
• Acts as an inhibitory receptor on myeloid cells and mast cells, delivering negative regulatory signals to control cellular activation. Related references: PMID:15549731
• Recognizes and binds phosphatidylserine (PS) exposed on the surface of apoptotic cells, promoting macrophage-mediated efferocytosis, a process critical for immune homeostasis and resolution of inflammation.
