Biological Background: CD271/NGFR Function and Localization
- CD271 (p75NTR, TNFRSF16) is a low-affinity neurotrophin receptor that binds NGF, BDNF, NTF3, and NTF4. It forms a high-affinity proneurotrophin receptor heterodimer with SORCS2 (PubMed:24908487). Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms. Related references: PMID:24908487
