- CD117/c-Kit is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase that serves as the cell-surface receptor for stem cell factor (KITLG/SCF); it is encoded by the KIT proto-oncogene and also known as mast/stem cell growth factor receptor, piebald trait protein (PBT), and p145 c-kit.
