Biological Background: AGTR2 Function and Localization
- The AGTR2 gene encodes the type-2 angiotensin II receptor (AT2 receptor), a G protein-coupled receptor that mediates the effects of the vasoconstricting peptide angiotensin II, involved in blood pressure regulation and cardiovascular function. - Primarily signals through non-canonical G protein- and beta-arrestin independent pathways, leading to modulation of cell proliferation and apoptosis.
