• HAP1 (Huntingtin-associated protein 1), also known as Neuroan 1, is a neuronal protein that specifically associates with huntingtin (HTT); the interaction is enhanced by expanded polyglutamine repeats in HTT, linking it to Huntington’s disease pathology.
• It plays a key role in intracellular trafficking, proposed to link HTT to motor proteins and transport cargos, and is involved in vesicular transport within neurons and axons, including early-to-late endosome trafficking and neurite outgrowth promotion.
